1. Education and Military Service:
   • Ayaz received his education from Lawrence College Murree before joining the Pakistan Military Academy as a cadet officer. He served in the Pakistan Army, reaching the rank of Captain.
2. Political Affiliations:
   • Initially associated with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Ayaz later shifted to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the 1980s and 2000s. Notably, he left the PPP during its time in power and joined the PML-N during its opposition phase.
3. Political Career:
   • In the 1997 Pakistani general election, Ayaz was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from the Chakwal constituency as a PML-N candidate. However, he departed from the party in 1998, only to rejoin in 2002, actively advocating for the restoration of democracy in the country.
   • He later contested and won a seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-60 Chakwal in the 2008 Pakistani general election as a PML-N candidate.

   • Ayaz Amir embarked on his career as a columnist for Dawn, where his writings notably criticized the Pakistan Army’s involvement in politics.

   • Presently, Ayaz serves as an analyst on the Pakistani TV channel Dunya TV, contributing to the current affairs show named Think Tank.
