Abrar founded a charitable organisation SAHARA (Services Aimed at Health and Awakening in Remote Areas). Its aim is to promote health and education in remote areas. Abrar also founded a hospital named “Sugra Shafi Medical Complex” in Narowal City. In 2016, Sahara for Life Trust opened their medical college in Narowal and gave admissions to 100 students for its first graduating class.
In December 2011 , Abrar-ul-Haq had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI ).
