Bruce Lee was born in Chinatown, San Francisco and later on he moved to Hong Kong with parents.
At the age of 18,he went back to United State for education at University of Washington,where he started teaching martial arts.
He called what he taught Jun Fan Gung Fu (literally Bruce Lee’s Kung Fu).
Bruce Lee opened his first martial arts school, named the Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute, in Seattle.
In 1964,Lee moved to Oakland to his friend James Lee who was Chinese martial artist . They opened Second Jun Fan martial art studio in Oakland .
At the invitation of Ed Parker, Lee appeared in the 1964 Long Beach International Karate Championships and performed.
After three years in 1967,Lee appeared again in Long Beach International Karate Championships and performed.
In Oakland (1964), at Chinatown, Lee had a controversial private match with Wong Jack Man (student of Ma Kin Fung).
In 1967 Lee decided to develop a system with an emphasis on “practicality, flexibility, speed, and efficiency”. Jeet Kune was originated by Lee.
