Early Life and Education:

    • Born on July 4, 1953, in Comilla, now Bangladesh, to a Pashtun family of the Tareen tribe.
    • Father, Allah Nawaz Tareen, served as a police officer.
    • Educated at Forman Christian College, Lahore, and earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina, USA.

Professional Career:

    • Entrepreneur and businessman, CEO of JDW Group and chairman/owner of JK Group.
    • Specialized in sugar manufacturing, ethanol production, power generation, and other industries.
    • Prior experience includes lecturing, banking, and leading agricultural task forces in Punjab.

Political Career:

    • Started political journey in 2002, elected to National Assembly from NA-195 on PML(Q) ticket.
    • Served as special adviser to CM Punjab and later as Federal Minister for Industries and Production from 2004 to 2007.
    • Joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2011, became its General Secretary, then Secretary General.
    • Ran for NA seat from Lodhran in 2013 (unsuccessful), but won in by-elections in 2015.
    • Controversially disqualified by Supreme Court in 2017 under Article 62(1)(f) for financial dishonesty and insider trading.
