Omar Ayub Khan Biography :

• Omar Ayub Khan  is the Ex Federal Minister for Power, in office since 11 September 2018 to 24 April 2019.
• He also  served as Minister of State for Finance in the federal cabinet from 2004 to 2007 ( PML-Q )
• He joined Pakistan Muslim League (N)  in 2012.
• In February 2018, he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
• On 24 April 2019 after PM reshuffle the cabinet team, Omar was given the additional charge of the ministery of petroleum.
• In mid April 2021 Prime Minister Imran Khan reshuffled the Cabinet again transferring Omar Ayub Khan from Minister of Energy to Minister of Economic Affairs.
• Khan was reelected to the National Assembly as an independent affiliated with PTI after the party was banned.
• On February 16, a senior PTI official, Asad Qaiser, announced Imran Khan’s nomination of Ayub Khan as the party’s candidate for prime minister.
• Ayub Khan was in hiding due to charges related to the May 9 riots in 2023.
• Omar Ayub Khan was reelected to the National Assembly as an independent affiliated with PTI after the party’s ban.
• Omar Ayub is elected as 12th Leader of Opposition by PTI- parliamentarians in 2024.
