Wasin Akram was diagnosed with diabetes when he was only 30 years old. But he continues playing cricket.
Wasim has four hat-tricks , two in Tests and two in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
During the 2003 World Cup in South Africa, Akram became the first man to take 500 ODI wickets.After this record was broken bt Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan.

Wasim came to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for trials. But for the first two days he did not get a chance to bowl. On the third day, he got a chance; his performance convinced Javed Miandad and he was become part of Team.
Wasim Akram started his ODI career against New Zealand in Pakistan in 1984,At that Zaheer Abbas was captain of Pakistani Team.
Wasim Akram made his Test cricket debut against New Zealand in 1985. In his second Test match, he got 10 wickets.
In 1992,Pakistan won the world Cup,In FINAL match wasim was Man of the Match.
Akram won 17 Man-of-the-Match awards in 104 Tests during his career.
Wasim won 22 Man-of-the-Match awards in 199 ODi’s.
Wasim took four hat-tricks in international cricke two in ODIs and two in Tests Matchs.
After retirement from cricket in 2003, he started commentary for television networks.
He was also bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR IPL Team owner SHAH RUKH KHAN) from 2009 to 2012,and 2014.
Wasim also worked as director and bowling coach of PSL franchise Islamabad United in 2016 and 2017 sessions. Currently in 208 session,he in bowling coach of Multan Sultans.
